crazylove

i finished the shack thursday and now am on my next book of the semester ! ... Crazy Love by Francis Chan. My good friend Hannah gave me this book for Christmas and its wonderful !

Growing up in church I have always heard that God is Holy. We say it so much though, do we really think about what it means when we say it? Websters defines the word holy as : exalted or worthy of complete devotion as one perfect in goodness and righteousnes. Yeh, thats right. Thats a big deal though, and we don't make it out to be. I think when we say holy we should say whoaaa afterwards. That makes more sense considering what it really means. God is Holy...whoaaaaa !!!

In Crazy Love Chan says "To say that God is holy is to say that He is set apart, distinct from us. And because of His set apart-ness, there is no way we can ever fathom all of who He is. To the Jews, saying something three times demonstrated its perfection, so to call God "Holy, Holy, Holy" is to say that He is perfectly set apart, with nothing and no one to compare Him to. That is what it means to be 'holy'"

God is Holy, Holy, Holy ...Whoaaaaa!

My question to you ...

"Isn't it a comfort to worship a God we cannot exaggerate?" -Chan

... oh yes!
