coffee. cheese. and chocolate.

That’s what I ate yesterday , m&m’s cheese and coffee! and spaghetti but the others are the best .  yesterday while we ate we sat there and talked to a guy living here for a couple days named Ali.  Annie left me by myself for about 10 minutes , sad , but fine, so he asked me about what we were doing and I  told him basically everything we were doing this summer  … he thought it was awesome that we were working with orphans and street children and started telling me that he wants to adopt one day and how he has such a heart for those who have been abandoned. “all the time I see people getting rid of their car because they need money, or selling their house, but selling their kids, that’s ridiculous.” –ali.  Feeling this way he had never heard of how life really is for some of them so I got to tell him what I have experienced and seen in Honduras.  He has family in Honduras and I believe was really shocked to hear some of these things.  We started talking about donating money to organizations and things and he says he doesn’t donate because hes had friends who worked for places like UNICEF and he knows the money doesn’t get where it’s suppose to half the time.  I told him about FCM saying that we get to see where our money goes in the ministry and have opportunities to meet the children.  He thought that was awesome.  This whole time I never really talked about it as a mission trip, I talked about it the way he related it, as just caring.  Eventually we started talking about the war and stuff … he’s brother is about to head back in Afghanistan  … he said  he wished the government would go fight the war and  I laughed and a thought came to my head … why don’t they? When King David first didn’t go, look what happened!! … but anyways … it was  a great talk , cool guy … and by the end as Annie and I began to walk up the stairs he said … “ I just want you to know that you girls have really encouraged me to go back to church.  I’ve never really gone to church; mom was catholic , dad was muslim, and my aunts and cousins were Pentecostal, so I just never wanted anything to  do with it.  But seeing that you are doing all these cool things and actually helping and you’re doing it with your church, it makes me want to try it.  Thanks.”
