Dear Courtney Burke,
Hey love, i’m taking a break from my 24/7 studying and decided I needed to write you this. i always think about this and we talk about it when you’re not around but I feel like I need to say this ! You have this amazing gift that most people our age don’t have, serving. I know I don’t have it, and that’s why I think I notice it so much in you. I want you to know that when people talk about being a good servant and serving other people you are the first person I think about. You are so quick to lend a hand, but it’s not even that! People don’t even have to ask you to help , you’ll ask if you can. That’s a big deal and I don’t think you get told enough how much that means to people. You take care of your friends and you truly care. Most friends say they do, but what shows it? … Everything you do shows you care. For heavenssake, you just called to make sure I ate today cause i've been studying and you know I forget to eat when I study.... And if I had told you no, you would have brought me food. Thank you for that, being such a good friend that I could never doubt our friendship. In Luke 14:12 Jesus says “When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous." When I read this I think about you, you are doing exactly what the Lord asks of us and when people see you serving I hope you know that Christ shines out of you. You’re random acts of kindness and giving while not looking for anything in return encourage me to work harder at it. I really want you to know that you are such an awesome best friend. People can have awesome best friends that are nice and sweet and junk but I think to have a best friend with a serving heart, that’s the best of all. You make me try to be a better friend, yeh, you’re that good haha. I notice how much I don’t serve or give and how unwilling my heart is sometimes and you just encourage me to work at that. You are a wonderful girl and I wouldn’t/couldn’t ever ask for any better of a best friend. I love you.
